•  Swim lessons will be held for two weeks beginning Monday, May 22 – May 25 and Tuesday, May 30 – June 2. Cost is $40 for 8 days.  For more information, call Tibby Niehues 354-2220.

  Voting for the school bond election will be May 13.

•  Metal trash barrels are available from the local Lions Club for $10 each.  You can pick them up, or a club member will deliver.  Call John Kinnibrugh, 354-2512, Eric Seidenberger, 354-2314 or Warren Multer, 354-2466.

•  Upcoming school events:  GCHS UIL Academic/Sports banquet May 15, 6 p.m. at the community center; Head Start graduation May 16, 9:30 a.m.; school staff appreciation meal, May 16, 6:30 p.m. at the community center; kindergarten graduation, May 19, 9 a.m.; GCHS graduation, May 19, 7 p.m.

   Glasscock Underground Water Conservation District cancelled its May 13 board election, since there were no contested seats. Incumbents John Phillips and Larry Wheat remain as directors.

  Persons in elected positions in the county are being required to have training regarding the Texas open meetings and public information laws.
